Change will cost the world its apathy.

How in the world are we going to make change if we're apathetic to the basic nature of our problems. I have yet to meat anyone in all my travels that I thought was morally bankrupt. I have met some very unconscious people but not a soul I have yet to meet that is intrinsically bad. So why is it so hard for people to make necessary changes in our social structure so that we can avert some of the most heinous acts that we unfurl upon ourselves as a species, ecosystem and therefore #planet. SUFFER NO MORE There are very few people I have met in my life that are OK with seeing something or someone suffering. Show people violent videos, graphic acts of cruelty and even the most staunch stomachs roil in disgust. Yet strangely we are OK with it being swept under the rug while we're standing on it. In the same way that our current waste-management hides our mass #consumerist folly. Or how we are all for #animalrights but still consume meat and dairy from the #industrialagriculture complex. Or how we're all against #worldhunger but we're still above helping those in our own downtrodden backyards. Or how we all want to be #healthy but want 'super-foods' flown from the 4 corners of the globe to make it easier n' faster at the price of #ecology and the species (including us) that rely on her precariously balanced systems and meticulous checks and balances. We allow #suffering all over our world because of #apathy and #pricetag, because of #laziness and #impatience. However, I'll be the first to tell you that I am #eco-friendly, kind, informed,#healthy, and empathetic. But I must ask myself now if I am a hypocrite because I see my actions not being as 'pure' as I sometimes profess them to be. I see the ripples of my actions(or inactions) and yet because I feel helpless in the larger picture i often play it off as being trapped into consumerism, weak financially or scared of change. Being confused and inundated with moral dilemmas shouldn't dissuade you from confronting and changing that which makes the core of your being recoil in horror. When in our history did it become 'impractical' to have common sense? We stand at the edge of a new era, one of beautiful transformation or horrendous overthrow. Of incredible unity or deep division. We have finally reached the apex of the struggle of man vs nature and we're realizing nature cares not for us, but tolerates us (for now). The greatest part of this monumental change is seeing movements like #occupy taking shape. Feeling a collective raise in awareness to issues we all bear internally but have been too ashamed to make fuss about until now is incredible and awe-inspiring. But we must stay vigilant towards apathy, make changes to our systems based on #morals not moola. Give to those who need it, not to those who don't. Care for each-other and honor the role we all play in this #cosmicjacuzzi. The role of caretaker of the planet falls to us, as does the rearing of the #nextgeneration. We need to start taking full #responsibility for our implicit role in the present moment. We're all in this together brothers and sisters. Lets start acting like the #family we are. Your faithful brother and protector, Ben

No such thing as a straight line

There is no such thing as a straight line in nature. Think of one.   I can't.  Funnily, i believe a large percentage of injuries and arthritic conditions can be avoided by simply living with a direct 'feet-on' connection to nature rather than trying to pave her entirety so we might exist on multiple flat planes....with flat feet... supported by, yet removed from mother nature forever by the 1/2" of rubber underneath us.... In the personal training world we teach instability as a means of gaining stability, uneven surfaces to stimulate kinesthetic awareness and through the nerves and musculature and therefore arches of the feet a knowledge of your connection to your surroundings. We know that rotary and corkscrew motions are the most powerful functionally. We know that motion is better than no motion. That stagnation in anything causes death. We know that disturbing a circular system such as an ecosystem damages it through its inability to deal with positive feedb...

The answer to the unending question

"Here is the answer." "The answer to what" she replied. "The answer to everything..." he continued. "What? ...  You're mad." "This is very possible my dear, but mostly because I believe it to be possible still...." "I'm confused..., why would..." she started, but he cut her off..."sorry darling, I have to continue this thought, so please bear with me..." First, when contemplating an answer you must ponder the question... it is imperative to ask the right question. ...and Einstein once said that the most complicated theories must be understood by children or they are useless. So the question must be simple, and it must be sensical, not be dissuaded by emotional attachment and have answers that will stand the test of time. The question that haunts me is the one that ties the world I live in everyday to the world that I believe unfolds around me at my behest and without my permission.  The question i...

Gyroscope hand fitness trainer

During our training session JY told me about this amazing new device for hand strength. It is called the 'powerball'... Now this blogger does not endorse products , but I thought I would tell the trainers of the world about it because it was the first I had heard about it and sounded intriguing! This is something a trainer rarely does because we focus on the larger muscles, not realizing of course that is the weakest link in the chain that stops a client from acheiving more out of their workouts. We focus on abs (sorry to be politically corect... Core), the arms in men, the waist in women but we often forget about the little muscles. It is also important to note tha the hands contain very small muscles and we need to maintain not only strength but also dexterity. Please if you use something like this gyroscope do not forget to add some tactility skills for your client. PohFolk
