Vo is Pillars of Health?

WHAT IS PILLARS OF HEALTH?
Pillars of Health is a 5 tiered health concept which initially developed into a business of the same name. Now it is known as PohFolk (or Pillars.of.Health Folk) These tiers (referred to as pillars) are the 5 things that every man, woman and child on this planet must do to survive. These five things are simply; Eat, Drink, Breathe, Sleep and Move.

Einstein once said ‘Any theory that cannot be explained to a child is probably worthless’. This is our governing ideology. This program is designed to show the correlation between the Pillars and how that affects health. It then shows you how to change the aspects of lifestyle so that these Pillars work for the individual or group. Due to the simplicity of the program it can be tailored to ANY setting; be it corporate, clinical, educational, etc…. The other element of Pillars of Health is that it is based in (and as such, follows) ecology closely; this is an eco-friendly business that promotes and supports the environment.

WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO?
Simplicity begets understanding. Understanding + Facilitation = Action.

We believe if there is a concept that is simple enough for even a child to understand and a company that facilitates its implementation into lifestyle, we can impart great change to the individual, the population and therefore the planet.

WHAT STIMULATED YOU TO START THIS?
We believe there to be a couple of issues in the way the world currently operates. Firstly, consumerism for the sake of placating the ego is damaging individuals, relationships and the planet. Alas, we don’t know anything other.... Therefore, we are looking to offer an alternative way of thinking. It still has a level of consuming but is designed to realign us with those around us, and with our environment. This decreases our ‘ecological footprint’, slows our consumption of resources, and preserves our environment as a whole.

The next issue lies in the healthcare industry. Health, to date has been based on an action-reaction model. When you get sick, you go to your GP’s office, they then spend a minimal amount of time with you to prescribe you something to ‘speed up’ your recovery or mask your symptoms. Health is a not something you can ‘fix’, it is a process and is something that needs to be taken care of daily. This is your lifestyle; it is the food you eat, the habits you form, the way you think about yourself and your body. Most of the ‘Mass exterminators’ of our time are in large part ‘lifestyle controlled’. This means that if we had taken better care of ourselves daily many of these issues would not be present in such great numbers if at all.

If you could help with these two main issues you would take the burden off our medical system, increase productivity in the individual, decrease the damage to the environment and stimulate people to take control of their lives.

What has been missing so far is a way to do this easily. Galileo said ‘you cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him to find it inside’. People need to take responsibility for what is happening in our world at the moment. When this program is adopted, we have the means to make massive change to our internal world, and when enough people change, we make large-scale change. We believe that if you have the means to make a change and you don’t step up to do so, you’re failing everyone, and everything around you. Here’s us stepping up.

SO, WHAT NEXT? Pillars of Health has decided to create a business model called ECO-Health. This model is a way of introducing the Pillars of Health concepts into as many areas of daily life as possible. It works with the individual, the corporate environment, the physical professionals, the education system, and the governing bodies of our country. It does all of this by working closely with organizations that are already working towards a greener future, those in preventative medicine and health and bringing them together to find consensus and HEALTH.

No such thing as a straight line

There is no such thing as a straight line in nature. Think of one.   I can't.  Funnily, i believe a large percentage of injuries and arthritic conditions can be avoided by simply living with a direct 'feet-on' connection to nature rather than trying to pave her entirety so we might exist on multiple flat planes....with flat feet... supported by, yet removed from mother nature forever by the 1/2" of rubber underneath us.... In the personal training world we teach instability as a means of gaining stability, uneven surfaces to stimulate kinesthetic awareness and through the nerves and musculature and therefore arches of the feet a knowledge of your connection to your surroundings. We know that rotary and corkscrew motions are the most powerful functionally. We know that motion is better than no motion. That stagnation in anything causes death. We know that disturbing a circular system such as an ecosystem damages it through its inability to deal with positive feedb...

The answer to the unending question

"Here is the answer." "The answer to what" she replied. "The answer to everything..." he continued. "What? ...  You're mad." "This is very possible my dear, but mostly because I believe it to be possible still...." "I'm confused..., why would..." she started, but he cut her off..."sorry darling, I have to continue this thought, so please bear with me..." First, when contemplating an answer you must ponder the question... it is imperative to ask the right question. ...and Einstein once said that the most complicated theories must be understood by children or they are useless. So the question must be simple, and it must be sensical, not be dissuaded by emotional attachment and have answers that will stand the test of time. The question that haunts me is the one that ties the world I live in everyday to the world that I believe unfolds around me at my behest and without my permission.  The question i...

Gyroscope hand fitness trainer

During our training session JY told me about this amazing new device for hand strength. It is called the 'powerball'... Now this blogger does not endorse products , but I thought I would tell the trainers of the world about it because it was the first I had heard about it and sounded intriguing! This is something a trainer rarely does because we focus on the larger muscles, not realizing of course that is the weakest link in the chain that stops a client from acheiving more out of their workouts. We focus on abs (sorry to be politically corect... Core), the arms in men, the waist in women but we often forget about the little muscles. It is also important to note tha the hands contain very small muscles and we need to maintain not only strength but also dexterity. Please if you use something like this gyroscope do not forget to add some tactility skills for your client. PohFolk
